About
If you're seeking a quintessential steakhouse experience in the heart of Chicago, look no further than Morton's The Steakhouse Chicago, located at 65 E Wacker Pl. This esteemed establishment not only showcases the best in prime cuts but also provides a remarkable ambiance complemented by impeccable service.
Morton’s has carved a niche for itself, consistently delivering high-quality culinary experiences. Whether you indulge in the rich lobster bisque, brimming with flavor and texture, or a sumptuous New York strip steak, prepared to your liking, every bite resonates with expertise and passion. Reviews reveal particular favorites: diners rave about the potato gratin, which is a must-try side, alongside customer praise for the lamb chops and succulent lobster ravioli.
Notably, the steak quality remains a highlight, even in a large event setting. As one patron shared, the New York strip stood out in taste compared to the filet mignon, which fell a little flatter than expected. This juxtaposition speaks to the establishment's commitment to quality and the fine-tuning that comes with experience. Even in times of higher volume, such as events, Morton's manages to retain a standard that many find commendable.
The ambiance is key as well, punctuated by elegant décor that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. Guests appreciate the attentive staff, who navigate the bustling space with professionalism, ensuring you feel welcomed and valued. Some have noted, however, that reservation is advisable, as walk-ins may find themselves in the lounge area—still a lovely option, yet indicative of the restaurant's popularity.
For those who appreciate a touch of sweetness after a savory meal, the key lime pie served at the end of the course has been hailed as an exquisite choice, offering a refreshing balance to the richness of the steaks. Desserts here are not merely an afterthought; rather, they encapsulate a thoughtful conclusion to an indulgent meal.
Morton's The Steakhouse Chicago embodies the essence of classic steak dining, wrapped in warmth, sophistication, and culinary artistry. It is an experience worth savoring, making it a must-visit for anyone in the Windy City.
“ Came for a hosted meal/event: they had space to host perhaps 30-40 of us on the 2nd floor and managed the crowd really well. Problem was that there wasn’t waiting space within Morton’s before the event started which was a pity because it was a freezing day in Chicago. The quality of the steak was good despite being “mass produced” for the event, showed that they had a lot of experience which was great. The New York strip was way better than the fillet mignon which turned out to be a little too dry. The sides were good especially the potato gratin which I kept going back for more. To finish there was a key lime pie which was a very nice end to a rich meal. Not too sweet but tarte enough to cut through the richness of the steak. ”
“ Ordered the lobster bisque and was fabulous. Big piece of Lobster in the bisque with so much flavor you could taste many ingredients and it all came together and left the palate with a lingering taste of seafood and cream . Also ordered the 16oz. New York steak mid-rare which was 2 inches thick and was probably more towards 18oz. In ordered the steak mid-rare and it came out rare which I rather have than medium. I did tell the bartender which she agreed but it tasted great and ate it as was. Expensive but worth it . ”
“ Very nice atmosphere. Without a reservation, you might only get the lounge or car. Staff are nice and professional. Had just one guy managing all the lounge tables, but he was prompt. And the food was great! Steak is worth it. But their appetizers are also good. ”
“ Visited Morton's on my birthday during a trip to Chicago. Everything was perfection. My fiance had the lobster bisque, lamb chops with brussels. I had the lobster ravioli with jumbo asparagus. The drinks were awesome and dare I say that I enjoyed this Morton's better than the one in NYC. We didn't want to be uncomfortably stuffed at the end so we did skip out on the bread and butter. But thats also delicious as we've visited Mortons before. I would definitely visit again. Service, ambiance, food, A. ”

“ Came here as part of a business trip and it was perfect. Prime ribeye was so tender and delicious. Bread is so tasty as well. Tried the bacon wrapped scallops, simply amazing. Glad we came here as it was all excellent. ”
“ We stopped here on Christmas Day without any reservation. The restaurant was very busy but we found a spot at the bar and were happy to eat there. I ordered a glass of wine and my other half ordered an old fashioned (which he said was very good). I had the lobster ravioli which was amazing, probably the best version of this type of dish I have had. The portion was huge and there was a good amount of lobster, I felt very full after eating this. My partner had the NY Strip which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. He ordered the green beans as his side which were tasty, albeit a little different with the Szechuan seasoning. After our main courses we were too full to order desserts. We did order the Morton coffees though which were good (and very boozy). Bill came to about 100 a head (including tax and tip) which we didn’t think was too bad given the quality of the food. We would definitely return here if we are in the area. ”
“ I really had a craving for a good steakhouse wedge salad, and Morton's did not disappoint. Great wine, and a delightful bartender! She was lots of fun, and even wrapped up my leftover bread (which was huge and very good) and put extra butter in. Morton's was the perfect vibe after a long day of seeing all the sites. ”
